MASON, OH – Nearly 70% of Mars Hill Academy's ninth and tenth grade students who took the 2014 ACL/NJCL National Greek Exam received awards. According to The American Classical League (ACL), approximately 55% of students taking the exam in the United States, Canada, Taiwan, Turkey and the United Kingdom receive awards. Greek is offered to MHA students beginning in ninth grade.
Mars Hill students who received blue ribbons are: ninth grader Salome Palmer of Mason, and tenth graders Nathan Davis of Mason and Anna Jones of Cincinnati. Red ribbon winners are: ninth grader Anna Edwards of Liberty Township and tenth graders Levi Giese of West Chester, Lauren Godfrey of Maineville, and Nathan Williams of Cincinnati. Green ribbon winners are: ninth graders Hunter Arthurs of Springboro and Andrew Richesson of Cincinnati, and tenth graders Tristan Admiraal of Mason and David Taylor of Liberty Township.
"This is the second year Mars Hill has participated in the National Greek Exam," said Dr. Christopher Jero, MHA's Greek teacher. "Thanks to a strong Latin foundation, which is an integral part of the classical and Christian curriculum, our students have been able to learn a lot of Greek in a short time. Our students have worked hard and deserve the recognition the NGE has awarded them."
