MASON, OH – Four Mars Hill Academy students took first place in the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) Ohio River Valley Region's 2014 Math Olympics competition for grades 3-8. Ken Fukuda of Mason placed first in the third grade Math Computation category, Sarah Harris of Turtle Creek Township placed first in the third grade Math Reasoning category, Manami Fukuda of Mason placed first in the fourth grade Math Computation category, and Karen Reynolds of Cincinnati placed first in the seventh grade Math Reasoning category.
The ACSI Math Olympics is a series of timed tests in math computation and math reasoning. Up to three students in each grade qualify to take four rounds of timed-tests in either computation or reasoning. The top five scorers in each grade and category are awarded. Tests were taken at Mars Hill Academy and submitted by mail to the ACSI host school. Overall, twenty-two Mars Hill Academy students received awards.
