MASON -- Come watch the Mars Hill Academy high school drama cast bring one of Charles Dickens’ most fascinating novels, Great Expectations, to life. Shows take place at Mars Hill Academy, 4230 Aero Drive in Mason, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 26-28 at 7 p.m., with a matinee show at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Journey with Dickens’ timeless character, the orphan Pip, as he leaves behind a childhood of misery when an anonymous benefactor offers him a chance at life as a gentleman. Pip’s dramatic adventure, full of twists and turns, is packed with poignant lessons and interesting characters.
The show stars Jacob Oedy of Lebanon as the orphan Pip, Jolene Estruth of Mason as the wealthy, eccentric old woman Miss Havisham, and Grace Miligan of Lebanon as her beautiful ward, Estella.
"Staging a literary classic has been exciting and educational for us all!” said director Beth Kenniv of West Chester. “Charles Dickens' multifaceted characters have been a treat for our actors to dig into."
Tickets for Thursday's opening night are $8. Tickets for Friday and Saturday's shows are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. The Saturday matinee includes a post-show "Meet and Greet" with the cast and a special activity for children.
