MASON, OH – Mars Hill Academy’s boys track team won the Ohio Youth Runner Middle School State Division III track meet this past weekend. The Highlanders competed against 71 teams from public and private schools throughout Ohio. MHA eighth grader Abraham Beatty set a state record in the 400M as well.

“This is quite a feat for a track team with no track,” said coach Matt Beatty. “We drive over to a local church after school and practice in their parking lot, so to win the state title without regularly training on a real track is an amazing testimony to the determination of these young kids.”

This was the team’s first run at a state middle school championship. The MHA girls track team placed fifth of 62 teams at the state meet.
