MASON -- Mars Hill Academy students secured the top four spots in the recent Highlander Spelling Bee, competing against students from schools in Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia. Congratulations to Caleb White of Liberty Twp., 1st; Noelle Min of Mason, 2nd; Joshua Miller of Cincinnati, 3rd; and David Kim of West Chester Twp., 4th. Caleb advances to the Scripps Region II final local spelling bee March 17. 

Grade level winners from MHA included: 

  • First grade: Janelle Idris, 1st; Clark Yang, 2nd; Liam Bedinghaus, 3rd.
  • Second grade: Marko Mavridis, 1st; Lydia Ware, 4th.
  • Third grade: Eliana Rau, 2nd; Christian Samuel Ho, 3rd.
  • Fourth grade: Casey Heap, 1st; Ransom Huffman, 2nd.
  • Fifth grade: David Kim, 1st; Daniel Kim, 2nd; Silas Reynolds, 4th.
  • Sixth grade: Jaden Idris, 1st; Clay Heap, 2nd; Dillon DeBra, 3rd; Anna Kate Gage, 4th.
  • Seventh grade: Caleb White, 1st; Joshua Miller, 2nd; Zeke Forster, 4th.
  • Eighth grade: Noelle Min, 1st.
