Mr. Mark Cotterman has served as MHA Head of School and ex officio Board member since July 2017. He holds a B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Ohio University and spent more than 25 years in the business consulting industry. Mr. Cotterman and his wife Lisa have three daughters: two MHA graduates and one current MHA student. The Cotterman family attends Hope Evangelical Free Church.
Mr. Ron Ferguson
Mr. Ferguson served for three years as an elected Board member and was then elected as an appointed Board member. He holds a B.S. in Science with a pharmacy degree from the University of Cincinnati. Mr. Ferguson owns nine different retail pharmacy locations, along with a home medical equipment company based in Middletown. He and his wife, Diane, have five boys, including one MHA graduate. Their family attends Faith Church in Milford.
Mr. Chris Hall
Currently on sabbatical
Mr. Hall served for two years as an elected Board member, and was then elected as an appointed Board member. He holds a B.S. in Environmental Studies from Bowling Green State University, and an M.S. in Environmental Science from the College of Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. Mr. Hall is a licensed professional engineer with over 20 years of experience working for the City of Cincinnati at the Metropolitan Sewer District. He and his wife, Patsy (MHA Office Manager), have two adult children, both MHA graduates. Their family attends Grace Bible Presbyterian Church in Sharonville.
Dr. David Palmer
Dr. Palmer joined the MHA Board in July 2016. He serves as the Senior Pastor of Kenwood Baptist Church, and also teaches as adjunct faculty in New Testament at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Dr. Palmer holds a B.A. in History from Huntington University, a M.Div. and a Th.M from Gordon-Conwell, and a Ph.D. in New Testament Backgrounds from Hebrew Union College. He and his wife Christine, who is a native of Athens, Greece near the original Mars Hill, share a deep commitment to classical and theological education. They have two children, who both attend MHA. The Palmer family attends Kenwood Baptist Church.
Mr. Marius Pienaar
Mr. Marius Pienaar joined the board in July 2017 as an elected member. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Johannesburg University. Mr. Pienaar owns a small business that implements and develops material optimization software solutions for the sheet and plate metal fabrication industry. He and his wife, Ananda, have three sons, all of whom attend MHA. The Pienaars attend Good Shepherd OPC in Forest Park where he serves as an elder.
Mr. Dave Ryan
Mr. Ryan served on the Board for three years as an elected member, and then rejoined the Board as an appointed member. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Wheaton College and a Master’s degree in Finance from Northern Illinois University. Mr. Ryan's career has included work in outsourced management, consulting, and supply chain development. He has been employed by Catholic Health Initiatives for almost 20 years. Mr. Ryan and his wife Martha (MHA first grade teacher) have adult three daughters, all of whom are MHA graduates. The Ryans attend Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
Mr. Tom Thistleton
Mr. Thistleton and his wife, Linda, are the founders of Mars Hill Academy. He served for ten years as the Chairman of the Board, and now serves as an appointed Board member. Mr. Thistleton holds a B.S. from the University of Dayton and an M.B.A. from Indiana University. He has served in various executive roles with high-technology companies, including a stint as CEO, and as a partner in consulting for Deloitte & Touche. The Thistletons have ten children, including five MHA students and five MHA graduates. They attend North Cincinnati Community Church in Mason.
Mr. Roger Wismer
Mr. Wismer has served on the MHA Board as an appointed Board member since the founding of the school. He served as MHA interim Headmaster for five years. Retired from Procter & Gamble after over 30 years, Mr. Wismer's career focused on manufacturing management and global logistics. He holds a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Nebraska. Mr. Wismer and his wife, Shirley, attend Grace Bible Presbyterian Church in Sharonville, where he serves as an elder. They have two grown children and three grandchilren who reside in Cincinnati.
