Dr. Laura Lucas

Logic & Rhetoric Science

After working for more than 12 years in the consumer products and flavor development industries as a Ph.D. research chemist, Dr. Laura Lucas transitioned to the classroom to fulfill God’s calling on her life. She earned a B.A. in Chemistry within a liberal arts framework at William Jewell College (Liberty, MO) and then completed both her Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry and post-graduate studies at the University of Kansas. Over the past nine years, Laura has taught general science in grades 3-6, high school chemistry, and launched the school’s Science Olympiad teams. Laura fully believes that studying the natural world is a significant means of knowing God and seeks to instill lifelong wonder in her students by connecting God’s character to His creation. Laura and her husband, Robie, have two young adult children, both of whom benefited from a Mars Hill education. They are members of Hope Church and enjoy taking family hikes together with their dog, Nash. If she’s not in the lab, Laura also enjoys group fitness classes and working jigsaw puzzles.
