Little Known Facts...
When he was in high school, Peanuts creator Charles Shulz's artwork for
the school’s yearbook was rejected.
The first “Peanuts” collection was published in July 1952 by Rinehart &
Company.
Charles Shulz granted composer Clark Gesner permission to record
“Peanuts” songs in 1966. The songs were first released as a record album
with no plans to turn it into a musical.
The stage adaptation of the concept album, titled "You're a Good Man,
Charlie Brown," went into rehearsal in New York City on February 10,
1967. On March 7, the musical premiered off-Broadway at Theatre 80 in
the East Village, New York City.
The initial production of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" lasted 1,597
performances, closing on February 14, 1971.
One of the musical numbers in the show is based on Beethoven’s Piano
Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor, Op. 27, No. 2, also known as the
“Moonlight Sonata.”
