Parenting is a Journey

Marked both by breathtaking vistas and harrowing cliffs, parenting is a journey best taken with others — others who have “been there” and others who are there now.

Recognizing parents as God’s primary instruments for shaping the souls of their children, Mars Hill Academy exists to assist parents in that endeavor. One way Mars Hill supports parents is through a variety of parent education opportunities.

The Gospel and Grades:
Tuesday, February 20, 6:30-8:00 p.m.

At Christian schools that pursue academic excellence, we seem to have a problem. As Christians, our greatest desire is for children to receive salvation from God as a free gift of His grace. At the same time, we train students to follow the rules, and we urge them to work hard to earn good grades. Does our hard work Monday through Friday make students forget the gospel they heard at church on Sunday? Is there really a contradiction between the gospel and grades? This presentation will clarify these important issues, so that parents can shepherd their children toward the proper understanding of both the gospel and grades.

Childcare is provided by RSVP.

Getting to the Heart of Parenting:
Fridays, March 8, 15, 22, April 5, 7-9 p.m.

A biblical view of parenting goes much deeper than the establishment of rules; it focuses on relationship and the heart change brought about through grace. In the “Getting to the Heart of Parenting” video series, pastor and best-selling author Dr. Paul David Tripp takes parents on a journey through the Bible to discover a different and better way to parent. After laying down foundational parenting principles, Tripp covers specific applications for children ages 0-5, 6-12, and 13-18.

Childcare is provided by RSVP.

Talking to Your Child about Sex:
Tuesday, April 9, 6:30-8:00 p.m.

Many Christian parents wrestle with talking to their children about sex naturally, honestly, age-appropriately, and biblically.

Please join us for a special parent evening Tuesday, April 9 at 6:30 p.m. as Headmaster Mike McKenna provides parents with practical and biblical advice for speaking to our children about sex. If we don’t, someone else will.

Childcare is provided by RSVP.
